Oats
What are oats used for?
Oats are the everyday grain for porridge, muesli and baking. Choose from rolled and quick oats, steel cut, whole groats and oat bran. It's the same grain in every bag, cut differently, so pick by how quickly it cooks and how much bite you like.

Is Oats right for you?
Common questions
Are oats gluten free?
Not unless the pack says they're certified gluten free. Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1) names gluten as a required component of oat, oat bran and colloidal oatmeal whenever they're taken by mouth, and "wheat free" on the front of a bag isn't the same thing. So check the allergen panel on the product you're holding, every time.
What's the difference between rolled, steel cut and oat groats?
They're all the same grain. Groats are the whole kernel, left as it comes. Steel cut oats are groats chopped into pieces, so they stay chewy. Rolled oats are groats steamed and flattened into flakes, which is why they cook fastest. Choose by how much time you have and how much bite you like.
