LittleOak Information

What is in the LittleOak collection?

Six goat milk products from LittleOak, arranged by stage. Stage 1 is an infant formula for use from birth, in an 800g tin or 6 x 30g sachets. Stage 2 is a follow-on formula for infants from 6 months, in an 800g tin or 6 x 30g sachets. Stage 3 is a toddler milk labelled for use from 12 months, in an 800g tin or 6 x 30g sachets.

How do the product pages describe the ingredients?

The 800g tin pages list full cream goat milk solids and lactose, with an oil blend of sunflower, pressed olive, pressed coconut and pressed flaxseed oils. The tin pages and the Stage 3 sachet page state that the product contains milk and is made using goat milk protein. The Stage 1 and Stage 2 tin pages add that goat milk is milk and is not a safe alternative for a baby with a cow’s milk protein allergy. The Stage 1 and Stage 2 sachet pages give less ingredient and allergen detail than the tin pages, so the pack is the place to check the full list.

What rules apply to infant formula in Australia?

Standard 2.9.1 of the Food Standards Code sets out what an infant formula product must state on its label, and it does not allow nutrition content or health claims to be made about these products. For that reason this collection describes stage, age range and ingredients as the product pages state them, and nothing more.

Which formula suits a baby is a question for a doctor, child health nurse or health worker. For help reading a label, the team can talk it through in a free 10-minute online consultation.
