Featured stress range

Sustained stress and acute tension need different support, so the pattern matters more than the product. This 2026 feature selection from the Mr Vitamins team covers magnesium, activated B vitamins, adaptogens such as ashwagandha, and calming herbs.

Featured stress range Information

How was this range chosen?

The Mr Vitamins team chose every product here for a stress feature during 2026. The selection covers magnesium in oral, bath and topical forms, activated B vitamins, adaptogenic herbs such as ashwagandha and rhodiola, calming herbs and teas such as lemon balm, passionflower and kava, and saffron. A few products, such as protein powders and electrolytes, were featured for everyday routine and recovery rather than as stress formulas. Where does stress support start?

Our practitioners usually start with nutritional status, because the nervous system cannot regulate without the raw materials. Magnesium is a cofactor in GABA production, and B6, folate and B12 are cofactors for serotonin, dopamine and GABA, as our stress and anxiety guide sets out with its sources. Activated forms such as methylfolate and P5P are often the more reliable choice for people who convert standard folic acid less efficiently.

Is it sustained stress or acute tension?

  • Sustained load. Adaptogens act on the HPA axis, the hormonal system behind the stress response, and work over weeks. Ashwagandha has the strongest research base, with most trials measuring results at eight to twelve weeks, and rhodiola suits the burnout and exhaustion pattern. The adaptogen trials are summarised in our stress guide, and you can compare products in our ashwagandha range.
  • Acute nervous tension. Lemon balm, passionflower and kava act more directly on GABA pathways, so they suit tension in the moment rather than months of load.

Where a practitioner changes the answer

Adaptogens and calming herbs are not interchangeable, and matching the herb to the pattern comes before choosing a dose. An adaptogen bought for a tense afternoon will disappoint, because it builds over weeks. Medication changes the answer too: St John's Wort and saffron both need checking against antidepressants, and St John's Wort interacts with a wide range of other medicines.

What this range will not do

Nutritional support is not a treatment for a diagnosed anxiety disorder or depression, and it does not replace psychological care. Speak with your GP if anxiety is affecting your work, relationships or sleep, if it has lasted for months, or if you have thoughts of harming yourself. Beyond Blue's guide to anxiety is a good independent starting point, and if you need support now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
