EAAs - essential amino acids - are the nine amino acids the body cannot make on its own. They must come from food or supplements every day.

Note: these RDIs represent the minimum needed to avoid deficiency in a healthy, sedentary adult, not the amount used in sports nutrition research for muscle protein synthesis or recovery, which is often higher.
