What is in each DOPE NUTZ jar?

Natural has one ingredient, premium peanuts. Choc Crunch adds pea protein, cocoa nibs and Himalayan sea salt, sweetened with a blend of xylitol, tapioca starch and monk fruit. Pistachio Delight is 50% pistachios and 25% peanuts, with pea protein, coconut milk and the same style of sweetener blend, and a natural colour from wheatgrass. The nutrition panels list 5.1 g, 6.0 g and 5.6 g of protein per 20 g serve respectively.

Which jars contain peanuts and tree nuts?

All three jars contain peanuts. Pistachio Delight also contains pistachios, a tree nut, as an ingredient. Choc Crunch lists a may-contain statement for gluten, cashew, hazelnut, almond and pistachios, and Pistachio Delight lists one for gluten, cashew, hazelnut and almond. ASCIA treats peanut allergy and tree nut allergy separately, noting that a person allergic to peanut is not always allergic to tree nuts. Coeliac Australia describes precautionary allergen labelling as voluntary and leaves the decision to use such products to each individual.

Is xylitol in these spreads a concern for pets?

Choc Crunch and Pistachio Delight both contain xylitol, and their product information states that xylitol is toxic to dogs and the spread should be kept away from pets. Natural does not list xylitol as an ingredient.

How do you check a jar against your needs?

Read the ingredient and allergen statement on the product information and on the jar itself, which is the authority on what is inside. The team can talk it through in a free 10-minute online consultation.
