Anagenesis
Anagenesis Information
The five Anagenesis formulas share olive leaf and very little else. The menopause blend carries twelve herbs; the cognitive formula carries three, one of them bacopa at 3 g dry equivalent per capsule. Read the labels side by side before you pick, because the brand name tells you very little about what is in the capsule.
Anagenesis calls its olive leaf high phenolic. On two of the labels it is a concentrated extract, 50 mg standing for 620 mg of dry leaf, while the Complex lists 620 mg of dry leaf directly. The brand says its leaf carries 65 or more phenolic compounds, which is a count of compounds rather than a concentration, and it has published no assay figure for these capsules. So treat high phenolic as a description of how they make it rather than a number you can compare against another brand. The dry-herb equivalents are the figures that are actually comparable.
What is on each label
Quantities below are per capsule, taken from the manufacturer's own ingredient panels rather than retyped. All five come as 60 capsules, and directions are two capsules daily where the label gives them, so the daily quantity is double the figure shown.
| Formula | Herbs and nutrients | Dry-herb equivalents and quantities, per capsule |
|---|---|---|
| Olive Leaf Menopause | Twelve herbs; olive leaf, sage and vitex the largest | Olive leaf 620 mg, sage 550 mg, vitex 500 mg, black cohosh 175 mg standardised, wild yam 125 mg, passionflower 125 mg, red clover 120 mg, ashwagandha 100 mg, raspberry 60 mg, maca 50 mg, liquorice 40 mg, dandelion 37.5 mg. Two capsules daily. |
| Olive Leaf + Cognitive + Memory | Three herbs, bacopa the largest | Bacopa 3 g, ashwagandha 1.5 g, olive leaf 620 mg. The largest herb quantities in the range by some distance. AUST L 522796. |
| Olive Leaf Complex + Ashwagandha | Three ingredients, no filler herbs | Olive leaf 620 mg dry, ashwagandha 500 mg, black pepper 205 mg. Two capsules daily. |
| Olive Leaf Probiotics | Four probiotic strains plus olive leaf | Bifidobacterium lactis 12 billion CFU, Lactobacillus rhamnosus 12 billion CFU, L. plantarum 6 billion CFU and L. acidophilus 4 billion CFU. Olive leaf 330 mg dry, which the same panel also states as equivalent to 620 mg. Two capsules daily. |
| Olive Leaf + Marine Collagen | Marine collagen with vitamins A, C and D | Hydrolysed marine collagen 500 mg, vitamin C 50 mg, saffron 25 mg, retinol palmitate 128 mcg, colecalciferol 12.5 mcg, olive leaf 50 mg. Two capsules daily on our product page; the manufacturer's label states one to two. |
Three things the labels tell you that the front of the pack does not
The collagen formula is not a collagen dose. It carries 500 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen per capsule, so 1 g a day at two capsules, which is a fraction of what a single serve of any powder in our collagen range delivers. If firmer skin is the reason you are buying it, a powder is the right shape of product and this is not. What this one carries alongside the collagen is saffron, olive leaf and vitamins A, C and D, which is a different reason to take it.
Ashwagandha is in three of the five. At 100 mg per capsule in the menopause blend, 500 mg in the Complex and 1.5 g in the Cognitive formula. Two Anagenesis products taken together can put you on a far larger daily quantity than you intended, so check the overlap before you run two of them.
The evidence on black cohosh is genuinely split. A 2023 meta-analysis found improvement against placebo; a Cochrane review found the evidence insufficient either way. Both are set out in our menopause and perimenopause guide. That is the honest state of the evidence, and it is worth knowing before you spend twelve weeks on a formula rather than after.
How these are dispensed
Mr Vitamins dispenses all five of these as practitioner products. They go to Mr Vitamins members, you complete a health survey when you order, and a member of our team reviews your case before the order is dispatched. Each product page states that it is dispensed under the care of a qualified naturopath. That review is the reason this range is not a straight add-to-cart here, and it is the point at which someone looks at what else you are taking. Anagenesis itself also retails these direct to the public, so the review is our decision rather than a restriction the brand places on them.
What these formulas will not do
They are not a replacement for menopausal hormone therapy. The manufacturer states AUST L 522796 for the Cognitive + Memory formula and AUST L 522393 for the Marine Collagen formula. Listed medicines in Australia are assessed by the TGA for quality and safety, not for how well they work. The manufacturer publishes no listing number for the other three. We are confirming all five against the ARTG and will show them on the product pages.
The menopause formula contains black cohosh, which carries a mandatory Australian label warning that it may harm the liver in some individuals and should be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Read the pack. The background to that warning, including the case reports behind it, is set out in the NIH black cohosh fact sheet.
The same formula also contains vitex, red clover and liquorice. Herbal medicines can affect prescription medicines, and the advice in the Victorian Government's guide to menopause management is to tell your doctor what you are taking. Put everything on the health survey, and if you take any prescription medicine, raise it with your prescriber before you start rather than after.
On the menopause formula, give it eight to twelve weeks at two capsules daily before you judge it. Most trials of menopause herbs measure results at that point. Our menopause and perimenopause guide sets out what the sage and black cohosh trials measured and links the papers. If nothing has changed by twelve weeks, change the formula rather than the dose.
