Creatine
More energy for your hardest efforts.
Creatine helps your muscles refill their energy between heavy sets and sprints. It's the most researched sports supplement there is.

Is Creatine right for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Do you need to do a loading phase with creatine?
No. Loading with about 20 grams a day for five to seven days fills your muscles faster, but 3 to 5 grams a day gets you to a similar point within three to four weeks. Loading is about speed, not a requirement, and big single doses are the usual cause of stomach upset.
Is creatine bad for your kidneys?
In healthy adults, controlled studies haven't shown kidney damage at recommended doses. A 2025 review found a small rise in creatinine, which reflects how your body processes creatine rather than kidney harm. That research didn't include people with kidney disease, who shouldn't take creatine without medical supervision.
Is creatine monohydrate better than creatine HCl or buffered creatine?
Monohydrate is the form used in most studies. A 28-day trial found buffered creatine was no better than monohydrate for muscle creatine, body composition or strength, and there's little head-to-head data on creatine HCl. Dissolving better in a glass doesn't mean better results.
Does creatine work for women and for people over 50?
Creatine works through the same muscle energy system whatever your sex or age, and older adults are an active area of research. In a review of memory studies, the benefit showed up in adults aged 66 to 76, but not in younger adults. Talk to one of our naturopaths about your situation.
