Description
White Wolf L-Carnitine is 100 per cent pure acetyl L-carnitine, often called ALCAR, in a handy 100 g tub. It suits adults who prefer plain acetyl L-carnitine and like to measure their own serve: take it as directed under Suggested Use, and do not exceed the recommended use.
Product Strengths
- 100 per cent pure acetyl L-carnitine, a single ingredient.
- Unflavoured, so it can be added to water or a shake.

- A compact 100 g tub.

L-Carnitine
The carrier that helps your cells use fat.
L-carnitine ferries fat into your cells' powerhouses so it can be burned for energy. It's the base form used in the body composition trials, and it's a partner to eating well and moving more.

Is this the right carnitine for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
What's the difference between L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine?
They're not interchangeable, and the evidence barely overlaps. L-carnitine is the base form, and it's the one with the body composition and exercise research. Acetyl-L-carnitine has an extra acetyl group, and it's been studied for nerve and brain outcomes instead. We haven't found a source comparing how well the two are absorbed, so no one should be telling you one is better.
How long before L-carnitine does anything?
Months, and that's the most useful thing to know about it. Doses by mouth raise the carnitine in your blood quickly, but muscle carnitine barely moves within a month. The regimens that worked ran for 12 to 24 weeks with carbohydrate alongside, which is also why single pre-workout doses keep showing no effect in trials.
Should I take L-carnitine before training?
Taking it daily is the better supported approach. Some trials that found an effect used 3 to 4 g about 60 to 90 minutes before hard training, and others used a daily dose for weeks. But a well-run 2025 trial used that exact 90-minute approach in trained athletes and found nothing, so don't plan a session around it.
Why is my sports drink only 100 mg when the capsules are 1,000 mg?
It's the same molecule under two sets of rules. As a sports food, the Food Standards Code caps added L-carnitine at 100 mg per day's serve. As a listed medicine with an AUST L number, there's no daily cap at all. That's why trial-sized doses are sold as medicines, not foods.
