Description
Springfields Lavender Organic is a single, unblended certified organic lavender essential oil, steam distilled from the flowering tops and grown organically in Bulgaria. It comes as two packs, an 10 mL bottle and a 30ml bottle, and the oil in both is the same. Bulgarian lavender carries a noticeably more herbaceous character than the traditional French style: cool, fresh and green over the familiar soft floral, with woody undertones underneath. It sits in the middle of a blend rather than on top, which is why it partners so easily with almost everything else on the shelf.
Product Strengths
- Lavender has the longest tradition of any aromatherapy oil, diffused as a calming scent at the end of the day.
- One hundred per cent pure lavender essential oil, with no carrier oil, extender or added fragrance.
- ACO Certified Organic, which covers organic principles from the farm through to the finished product.
- Organically grown in Bulgaria and steam distilled from the flowering tops.
- Sold in two sizes, 10 mL and 30ml, so you can buy the small bottle to try it or the larger one if lavender is a standing part of your blending kit.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: General household use.
Not suitable for: Pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless advised by a health professional.
Botanical Source
Botanical name: Lavandula angustifolia, as transcribed from the pack.
Plant part: flowering tops
Extraction: steam distillation
Country of origin: organically grown in Bulgaria. Springfields blends and bottles its oils in Australia.
How to Use
- Diffuser or vaporiser: add a few drops to the water reservoir and run the appliance according to its own instructions.
- Massage and body blends: dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin. The usual guidance for adults is 1 to 3 per cent.
- Bath: mix the oil into a dispersant or a little carrier oil first, because neat oil floats on water and can irritate skin.
- Blending companions listed on the pack include all the citrus oils, chamomile, geranium, eucalyptus, rosemary, thyme, tea tree, peppermint, grapefruit, clary sage, palmarosa, cypress, juniper, pine, aniseed, black pepper, marjoram, cedarwood and lemongrass.
- Confirm directions for use from the product label.
Safety
- Not for internal use. Do not take this oil by mouth unless you are doing so under the supervision of a suitably qualified practitioner. The maker's label states plainly that it is not to be taken.
- Always dilute in a carrier oil before skin contact. The usual aromatherapy guidance for adults is 1 to 3 per cent in a carrier such as sweet almond, jojoba or apricot kernel oil.
- Patch test a small area of skin first and stop using the oil if redness, itching or irritation develops.
- Keep away from the eyes, the inner ears and other mucous membranes, and do not apply to broken or damaged skin.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Essential oils are flammable. Keep the bottle away from naked flame, heaters and other ignition sources.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you are under medical care, speak with a qualified health professional before using essential oils.
- Springfields states that this oil is for adults and children over 2 years of age. Do not use it on infants.
Storage
Springfields directs that this oil is stored below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep it in the original tightly capped bottle, standing upright, away from direct sunlight, heat and naked flame, and out of reach of children.
