Description
Springfields Chamomile German Blue is a certified organic German chamomile essential oil supplied ready diluted at 2.5 per cent in certified organic jojoba oil. Also known as blue chamomile, it carries a warm, sweet, herbaceous aroma and the deep blue colour the oil is named for. Because it arrives already carried in jojoba, it can be applied straight to the skin without any further blending. The dilution is already done, so it is smoothed straight onto the skin as a lightly scented oil, or added by the drop to an unscented cream or massage blend when the sweet herbaceous chamomile note is what is wanted.
Product Strengths
- German chamomile is traditionally used in aromatherapy as a calming, settling scent at the end of the day.
- Certified organic German chamomile essential oil at 2.5 per cent in a certified organic jojoba base.
- Supplied pre-diluted, so no further blending into a carrier oil is needed.
- Jojoba is a liquid plant wax that absorbs readily and leaves the skin lightly scented.
- Warm, sweet, herbaceous aroma with the characteristic deep blue colour of German chamomile.
- Two plant-derived ingredients only, with no animal-derived material.
- 10 mL bottle.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: General household use.
Not suitable for: Anyone with a known allergy to the ingredients, always check the full list on the pack.
Botanical Source
German chamomile, Matricaria recutita, steam distilled from the flowers. That oil is then blended at 2.5 per cent into jojoba, Simmondsia chinensis, seed oil. Both components are certified organic. Springfields is an Australian-owned company that blends and bottles in Australia; the growing origin of the chamomile crop itself is not declared consistently across sources, so we do not state one.
How to Use
This is a pre-diluted skin oil rather than a neat essential oil. Apply a small amount directly to the skin as needed and massage in lightly. Springfields also suggests a bath use for its chamomile: combine 6 drops with 6 drops of a dispersant, then add the mixture to warm water. It does not need to be blended into a further carrier oil before skin contact. Confirm directions from the product label.
Safety
- For external use only. Not to be taken. Do not use internally unless under qualified supervision.
- This oil is already diluted to 2.5 per cent in jojoba, so the 1 to 3 per cent dilution guidance that applies to neat essential oils is not relevant here and should not be applied to it.
- Patch test on a small area of skin before wider use, particularly if your skin is sensitive.
- Keep away from the eyes and mucous membranes.
- Discontinue use if a rash or irritation develops, and do not apply to broken or damaged skin.
- Chamomile belongs to the daisy family, Asteraceae. If you have a known allergy to plants in that family, such as ragweed or chrysanthemum, avoid this product.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Essential oils and their carrier oils are flammable. Keep away from open flame and heat sources.
- If symptoms persist, consult your healthcare practitioner.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the cap firmly closed between uses.
