Is Beans right for you?
Common questions
Is bean pasta actually made of beans?
Mostly, yes. The common ones are milled black bean, edamame or mung bean, sometimes with a little rice flour or another binder to hold the shape. The blend varies by brand, so read the ingredients panel. What you're buying is the legume in a different shape, not a wheat pasta with beans added.
Are vanilla beans, cacao beans and coffee beans the same kind of thing?
No. They share the word and nothing else. Vanilla beans are orchid pods used for flavour, cacao and coffee beans are the seeds of quite different trees, and none of them is a legume you'd cook and eat like other beans. Each has its own page, so search for the name you want.
