Description
Protein Supplies Australia Grass Fed Colostrum is a nutrient-dense powder made from the colostrum of grass fed cows. Colostrum, often called 'first milk', is naturally rich in proteins, immunoglobulins (antibodies), lactoferrin and enzymes, which is why it is so highly prized as a wholefood supplement. It is processed at low temperature and low pressure to help keep those naturally occurring components intact, and being unflavoured it stirs straight into water or your usual food.
Product Strengths
- Made from the colostrum of grass fed cows.
- Processed at low temperature and low pressure.
- 99.5% bovine colostrum, with sunflower lecithin the only other ingredient.
- Unflavoured, so it goes into what you already eat or drink.
- A powder, so there are no capsules to swallow.

What is colostrum?
Colostrum is the first milk a cow makes, packed with immune proteins that do their work in your gut. People who train hard take it for gut support, as a powder to match the doses used in research.

How the forms compare
Common questions
Why do some Australian colostrum products have an AUST L number and others don't?
Because colostrum can be sold as either a medicine or a food. Bovine colostrum powder is a permitted ingredient for listed medicines, so a product made that way gets an AUST L number and can carry permitted health claims. A colostrum powder sold as a food falls under the Food Standards Code instead. That's perfectly legal, but it can't make therapeutic claims. It's why two tubs that look almost the same can say very different things.
Should I take capsules or powder?
It depends on why you're taking it. Every study that showed a benefit for the gut lining, endurance or recovery used 25 to 45 grams a day, and only a powder gets you there. The one triple-blind trial that reduced days with cold symptoms used just 0.5 to 1.0 gram a day for 107 days, which capsules cover easily. Two 400 milligram capsules a day gives you 0.8 grams: the right dose for colds, but nowhere near enough for the gut.
Does colostrum boost your immune system?
Not in the way that phrase suggests. A review of 10 trials in 239 athletes found little or no effect on antibody levels in blood or saliva, and a 24-week trial in basketball players found no effect at all. The one positive result is local rather than whole-body: in endurance athletes taking 25 grams a day, the antibody in saliva rose after exercise while antibodies in the blood stayed the same.
