Description
Power Super Foods Wakame Leaf is whole leaf wakame (Undaria pinnatifida), wild grown and hand harvested from the waters off Tasmania's east coast, then gently sun dried rather than heat dried. The white bloom you may see on the leaf is mannitol, which occurs naturally in the seaweed and carries its sweet, salty, savoury flavour. Eat it as a crisp dried snack, cut it into soups, stocks and miso, or soak it into silky strips for noodle bowls, salads and stir fries.
Product Strengths
- Eaten as it is, a crunchy dried snack straight from the pack.
- Cut into soups, stocks and casseroles, and a standard ingredient in miso soup.
- Rehydrates into soft strips for noodle bowls, salads and stir fries.
- Sweet, salty and savoury, so it seasons a dish as well as filling it out.
- Wild grown and hand harvested off Tasmania's east coast.
- Sun dried at low temperature, which leaves the natural mannitol bloom on the leaf.
- Whole leaf, with nothing added.
- Certified organic, and suitable for plant based diets.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients.
Suggested Use
Eat the leaf dry as a snack, or snip it into soups, stocks, casseroles and miso and let it soften as the pot cooks. To rehydrate, cover it with cold water for a few minutes until it turns silky, then drain and slice it into noodle bowls, salads and stir fries. Start with a small amount and add to taste, since the leaf carries its own salinity.
Ingredients
- Certified organic Tasmanian wakame leaf (Undaria pinnatifida).
Allergens
Read the allergen statement on the pack. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Warnings
Seaweed naturally contains iodine, and intake builds up quickly. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you have a thyroid condition or take thyroid medication, seek advice from a health professional before adding seaweed to your diet. Keep serves small and vary them across the week.
Nutrition Information
Read the nutrition panel on the pack.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and keep the pack sealed.
Disclaimer
Always read the label and follow the directions for use. This is a food, not a medicine, and is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a medical condition, seek advice from a health professional.
