Description
Planet Organic Bay Leaves are whole dried bay leaves, certified organic, in a 5 g glass spice jar. Bay is a slow herb. The leaf is leathery and gives up its flavour over a long wet cook rather than a quick one, leaving a savoury, faintly eucalyptus and clove note sitting under everything else in the pot. Drop one or two leaves in at the start of a soup, stock, stew, braise, ragu, curry, dhal or pot of rice, and lift them out before serving.
Product Strengths
- Goes into the pot at the start of a long, wet cook, so soups, stocks, stews, braises and slow cooked sauces have time to draw the flavour out.
- Whole leaves lift straight out before serving, so nothing gritty is left in the sauce.
- Part of a classic bouquet garni, and standard in Mediterranean cooking.
- Also flavours a pickling or poaching liquid, a pot of rice or lentils, and a pate.
- One ingredient: certified organic bay leaf, dried whole.
- Packed in a small glass jar that sits in the spice rack.
- Plant material only, so it suits vegetarian and vegan cooking.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Slow cooking and stock making, and for vegetarian and vegan diets, since the only ingredient is bay leaf.
Not suitable for: Anyone avoiding bay leaf. The leaves stay leathery and are not meant to be eaten.
Suggested Use
Add one or two leaves to the pot at the start of cooking and let them simmer with the dish. Tear or bruise a leaf first if you want more from it in a shorter cook. Take the leaves out before serving.
Ingredients
- Certified organic bay leaves, whole and dried.
Allergens
No allergens are declared for this pack. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Nutrition Information
Read the nutrition information panel from the jar.
Storage
Keep the lid closed and store the jar in a cool, dry cupboard, away from direct sunlight and away from the steam of the cooktop.
Disclaimer
Always read the label and follow the directions for use. This is a food, not a medicine, and it is not a substitute for a varied diet or for medical care. Keep out of reach of small children.
