Omega-3
Everyday omega-3s for your heart.
EPA and DHA are the two omega-3 fats that do the work, and your body can't make useful amounts of either. Check those two numbers on the back of the pack to choose the strength that suits you.

Is Omega-3 right for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
How much EPA and DHA is in a 1,000 mg fish oil capsule?
Usually around 300 mg in total: about 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA. The 1,000 mg on the front of the pack is the weight of the whole oil, not the active omega-3s. Concentrated products fit several times that into the same capsule, which is what makes them stronger.
Is algal oil as good as fish oil?
For DHA, yes. Microalgae are where fish get their omega-3 in the first place, and your body absorbs DHA from algal oil as well as it does from cooked salmon. Algal oils tend to be mostly DHA with less EPA, and they're the only ready-made vegan source, so they suit vegans and anyone avoiding seafood.
Can you take fish oil if you are on blood thinners?
Not without medical advice. Australian omega-3 concentrates must carry a label warning telling people on blood thinners to seek medical advice before taking them. Fish oil affects platelets, and INR monitoring is recommended if you take warfarin. Talk to the doctor who manages your medicine before you start, not after.
What is the difference between EPA and DHA?
They're two different long-chain omega-3 fats. DHA is a building block: it concentrates in your brain's grey matter and your retina, and it's the main omega-3 in algal and calamari oils. EPA is mainly raw material your body turns into short-lived messenger molecules. Most fish oils give you more EPA than DHA, so check the ratio on the panel.
