What's actually in a mushroom complex?
It depends entirely on the brand. A complex blends extracts of several mushroom species, commonly reishi, shiitake, lion's mane or cordyceps, but there's no fixed recipe. Two products with the same name can hold quite different species in quite different amounts. The ingredient list on the label is the only way to know what you're buying.
Is a mushroom complex a listed medicine in Australia?
Not by default. There's no Schedule 1 entry for mushroom complex as a named ingredient, and many mushroom blends are sold as food instead. Some species may be permitted in listed medicines under their Latin botanical names. If a product carries an AUST L number, that listing, not the name on the front, sets what it can say.
