Description
Nature's Sunshine Valerian Root is a single-herb capsule containing 440mg of Valeriana officinalis root powder, 100 capsules to the bottle. Valerian is one of the oldest herbs in the Western tradition, with written records stretching back more than a thousand years, and it is taken as the whole dried root powder here rather than as an extract. This is a listed medicine on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.
Product Strengths
- Whole root powder: 440mg of Valeriana officinalis root powder per capsule, named as the powder rather than an extract, so there is no equivalence figure to interpret.
- Single herb: valerian is the only active, with no blends or added herbs.
- Traditional Western herbal use: the ARTG record permits traditional use in Western herbal medicine to relieve restlessness and excess nervous energy, to relieve nervous tension and unrest, to induce sleep and to relieve sleeplessness.
- Taken before bed: two capsules an hour before sleeping, so the 100 capsule bottle covers roughly 50 nights.
- Clean formulation: Nature's Sunshine states no added gluten, lactose, soy, starch, sugars or salt, no wheat products and no artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives.
- Listed medicine: included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods as AUST L 48073.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Adults seeking everyday nutritional support.
Not suitable for: Vegans and vegetarians, because the capsule shell is gelatin; Pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless advised by a health professional; Children, because it is for adults only.
