Nature's Goodness Bitter Melon provides 500mg of bitter melon (Momordica charantia) whole fruit extract per capsule, combined with zinc. Bitter melon is a traditional tropical fruit, and each capsule is equivalent to 80g of fresh whole bitter melon fruit. This large 365-capsule pack is Australian made and owned.

Is bitter melon a medicine or a food in Australia?
Mostly a food. Momordica charantia is a permitted ingredient for listed medicines (item 3392 on Australia's permitted ingredients list, Schedule 1), but that only applies to a product making a health claim. There's no permitted health claim for it, and most bitter melon on the shelf, whether fresh, dried, powdered or juiced, is sold and regulated as a food.
Are karela and bitter gourd the same thing as bitter melon?
Yes. Karela is the Hindi name, and bitter gourd and balsam pear are two more common names, all for the same fruit, Momordica charantia. Whatever name is on the pack or in the recipe, and whether it's fresh, dried, powdered or juiced, it's the same plant. Different regions and cuisines just call it different things.
