Sweeteners
Sugar swaps for every cup and bowl.
Choose monk fruit, stevia, xylitol or allulose to sweeten without sugar. Granules are for baking and spooning, and syrups pour, so pick the one that suits what you're making.

Is Sweeteners right for you?
Common questions
Are sweeteners all the same ingredient?
No. Sweeteners is a shelf category, not one ingredient. Stevia, xylitol, erythritol and monk fruit are all different, each with its own regulatory position in Australia and its own label. That's why this page doesn't make one claim for all of them. For the detail on a single sweetener, go to its own page.
Are sweeteners regulated as medicines in Australia?
Mostly not. Sweeteners sold for food and drink sit outside the medicines rules. Stevia and xylitol are permitted ingredients in listed medicines (items 4768 and 5228 on Australia's permitted ingredients list). Erythritol's listing, item 2038, covers only medicines applied to the skin. We found no entry under the name monk fruit.
