Theracurmin (Water-Dispersible Curcumin)
Curcumin, made to mix with water.
Theracurmin is curcumin ground so fine it spreads through water instead of clumping, which is why the dose on the label looks so small. Most people choose it for achy, stiff knees.

How the forms compare
Common questions
What is Theracurmin?
It's curcumin, the yellow compound in turmeric, ground into extremely fine particles so it mixes into water. Plain curcumin doesn't dissolve and very little of it is absorbed, so this is a physical fix for that. In a 50-person knee trial, it did better than a placebo on pain over 8 weeks, and the people taking it needed less celecoxib.
Why is the curcumin dose on Theracurmin so low?
Because more of it is absorbed, less needs to go in the capsule. Its knee trial used an amount providing 180 mg of curcumin a day, the lowest dose of any curcumin trial we've reviewed, while joint trials with plain curcumin centre on about 1,000 mg a day. Compare products on milligrams of curcumin per day, not on the brand name.
Is Theracurmin the best-absorbed curcumin?
It depends which study you read. A single-dose study in 9 people found it reached about 11 times BCM-95's blood levels and 4.6 times Meriva's, but the product's developers were among the authors. An independent trial of 8 formulations in 12 people found the fine-particle curcumin didn't do significantly better than plain curcumin. Only micelles and a cyclodextrin complex did.
