Lion's Mane Mushroom
What is lion's mane mushroom?
Lion's mane is a shaggy white mushroom that people choose for focus. You can take it as a powder, capsules or an extract, and it's one of the most asked-about mushrooms in our stores.

Is Lion's Mane Mushroom right for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Is lion's mane approved in Australia?
Not as an ingredient in listed medicines. Hericium erinaceus isn't on Australia's permitted ingredients list, so it's legally sold here as a food instead. That means it can't carry an AUST L number or a permitted health claim, which is why we talk about the research rather than make a claim.
Does lion's mane actually work for focus?
There's a real but modest signal. A 16-week trial in older adults with mild cognitive impairment found test scores rose on 3 g a day and fell again after stopping. Another small trial found faster mental processing an hour after a single 1.8 g dose, though its 28-day stress result wasn't significant. Both trials were small.
Fruiting body or mycelium, which is better?
Neither is a clear winner. Most of the positive human trials used a dry powder or supplement described as fruiting body, but the erinacines with the strongest nerve growth lab results come from the mycelium. Check the label says which part was used and gives a gram amount, not a vague "proprietary blend".
