Description
Mindful Foods Organic Psyllium Husk is the pale, flaky outer husk of the psyllium seed, certified organic, with nothing else in the jar. It is grown in India and packed in Australia into a glass jar, and it is labelled gluten free and vegan. Psyllium husk earns its place for what it does in the bowl rather than for its flavour: it is close to tasteless, and it swells and thickens within a minute or two of meeting liquid. Stir it into water, juice or a smoothie and drink it straight away, or use it as the binder in gluten free baking, where it holds a dough together in place of gluten.
Product Strengths
- Binds gluten free doughs and batters, holding a loaf, a wrap or a biscuit together in place of gluten.
- Thickens water, juice and smoothies within a minute or two of stirring in.
- Close to tasteless, so it does not change the flavour of what it goes into.
- One ingredient only, which is the certified organic psyllium husk itself.
- Gluten free and vegan, grown in India and packed in Australia.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Those avoiding gluten; Vegans and vegetarians; Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients.
Suggested Use
Add one to two teaspoons to a smoothie, or mix it with water or juice and drink it immediately, before it thickens. In baking, use it as a binding agent. Start with one teaspoon a day and increase gradually, and drink plenty of water whenever you use it.
Ingredients
- Psyllium husk, certified organic.
Allergens
The only ingredient is the psyllium husk itself, with nothing else added. May contain traces of sesame or nuts. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Nutrition Information
Read the nutrition panel from the pack.
Storage
Store airtight in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, with the lid on the jar between uses.
