Description
Lotus Royal Organic Quinoa is grown at around 3,900 m above sea level, which produces a larger, fluffier seed with a nuttier flavour. Read this pack carefully before ordering, because the two packs it covers are two different quinoas: the 500 g pack (barcode 9317127003335) is Royal Organic BLACK Quinoa, which is earthier in flavour, and the 600 g pack (barcode 9317127640417) is Royal Organic WHITE Quinoa. Both are certified organic and both work in salads, stir fries and as a substitute for rice or couscous. Rinse it, simmer one part seed to two parts water for about fifteen minutes and fork it through; the black pack keeps more bite for salads, while the white cooks fluffier as a stand-in for rice or couscous.

White Quinoa
What is white quinoa?
White quinoa is the plain, everyday quinoa, a seed from the Andes that you cook and eat just like rice. It's sold loose in the bag for cooking from scratch.

Is White Quinoa right for you?
Common questions
Is quinoa a grain?
Not strictly. It's the seed of a flowering plant, Chenopodium quinoa, rather than a cereal grass like wheat or rice. You cook and eat it like a grain, though, which is why you'll find it on the same shelf. In Australia it's sold as a food, not a supplement.
