Description
Lotus Buckwheat Kernels are whole hulled buckwheat groats in a 500 g resealable oxygen barrier bag. Buckwheat is not a wheat and not a cereal at all: it is the seed of a plant related to rhubarb, which is why the kernels are triangular rather than oval. Cooked, they behave like a quick-cooking grain with a soft bite and a mild, nutty flavour, so they stand in easily for rice or pasta.
Product Strengths
- Fold them through a soup or a stuffing in place of barley or rice.
- Whole hulled groats rather than a flour, so they hold their shape in salads and bowls.
- A source of protein and a source of dietary fibre.
- Cook faster than most whole grains, generally in around ten to fifteen minutes.
- Work equally well as a savoury base and as a breakfast porridge or toasted muesli component.
- Resealable oxygen barrier bag to keep the kernels fresh once opened.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients.
Ingredients
- Buckwheat kernels.
Suggested Use
Use as a substitute for rice or pasta in salads, risotto style dishes and bowls, or cook as porridge and add to muesli. Rinse before cooking. Confirm quantities and directions from the product label.
Allergens
The buckwheat kernel packs are produced in China, packed in Australia, and packed in a facility that also processes tree nuts, cereals containing wheat and gluten, milk, soy, sesame seeds and lupin. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Reseal the bag after opening to keep the contents fresh.
