Description
Somnus is a ready to use aromatherapy roll-on from Juniper, an Australian practitioner skincare house. It is a 10 mL pulse point blend of six essential oils carried in virgin jojoba oil, with nothing else added. The blend is made with 100 per cent certified organic ingredients, although the certifier is not named on the brand's page.
Product Strengths
- Lavender and sandalwood are traditionally used in aromatherapy as quiet evening scents to wind down the day.
- Pre-diluted in virgin jojoba oil, so it rolls on straight from the bottle with no blending and no separate carrier oil.
- Six essential oils in the blend: lavender, sweet orange, ylang ylang, bergamot, rose otto and sandalwood.
- The aroma is soft and warm, with lavender over a woody Australian sandalwood base, floral ylang ylang and rose otto, and a bright citrus top note from sweet orange and bergamot.
- The sandalwood is Santalum spicatum, the Australian species, rather than Indian sandalwood.
- Jojoba is a light wax ester that sinks in without leaving a heavy film, and it keeps well.
- No synthetic fragrance and nothing else added to the oils and the jojoba base.
- A 10 mL roll-on bottle, small enough for a pocket, a handbag or a desk drawer.
- It carries 100 per cent certified organic ingredients.

How to Use
Roll a small amount onto the inside of the wrists, which is a conveniently placed pulse point. Juniper also suggests the soles of the feet, or applying the blend to a tissue and inhaling from it. If you use the tissue method, do not rub the tissue on the nasal area, as irritation may occur. The blend is supplied ready to use and needs no further dilution. For external use only.
Safety
For external use only. Not recommended during pregnancy. Not recommended for children under 6 years of age. Patch test on a small area of skin before first use and stop using the product if irritation occurs. Keep away from the eyes, broken skin and mucous membranes. The blend contains citrus oils, including bergamot and sweet orange, and as with any product containing citrus oils it is sensible to take care with sun exposure on treated skin. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep the cap closed between uses.
