Description
Honest to Goodness Slippery Elm Powder is the dried, ground inner bark of the slippery elm tree, Ulmus rubra, and nothing else. Mixed with liquid it forms a soft mucilage, which is why it has long been stirred into water or warm drinks rather than eaten dry. It comes as the 100 g pack. The powder is not certified organic.
Product Strengths
- Taken as a soluble fibre drink, stirred into water or a warm drink rather than eaten dry.
- One ingredient: slippery elm bark, finely milled.
- No added fillers, anti-caking agents, colours, flavours or preservatives.
- Non-GMO.
- Plant based, so it suits vegan and vegetarian eating.
- A 100 g pack, which suits occasional use.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Vegans and vegetarians; Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients; Pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless advised by a health professional.
Serving Suggestion
Stir one to two teaspoons into a glass of water, or into hot water to make a warm drink, and use it promptly before it thickens. It can also be worked into a gruel with a little liquid, or added to porridge and smoothies. Being a natural bark powder, colour and flavour vary a little between batches. Confirm serving and directions from product label.
Ingredients
- Slippery elm bark (Ulmus rubra), ground (100%).
Allergens
No allergens are declared. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Safety
Slippery elm thickens quickly once wet, so mix it with plenty of liquid and drink it promptly rather than taking it dry. It can also slow the absorption of anything taken at the same time, so leave a gap between slippery elm and any medicines. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking medication, or have an existing health condition, speak with your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare practitioner before using it.
Nutrition Information
The full nutrition information panel, including dietary fibre, is printed on the pack. Read it there for the figures that apply to the pack you receive.
