Description
Honest to Goodness Organic Psyllium Husk is the pale, fibrous outer coating of the Plantago ovata seed, and nothing else. It is essentially odourless and almost tasteless, which is why it is such a common addition to porridge, smoothies and gluten-free baking, where it also helps bind doughs that have no gluten to hold them together. It comes as the 200 g pack.
Product Strengths
- Gels in liquid, so it also thickens a soup, a sauce or a dressing.
- One ingredient: organic psyllium husk. Honest to Goodness is certified by ACO (Australian Certified Organic).
- Almost tasteless and odourless, so it blends into food and drinks without changing the flavour.
- No additives and no preservatives.
- A useful binder in gluten-free bread and baking.
- Plant based, so it suits vegan and vegetarian eating.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Those avoiding gluten; Vegans and vegetarians; Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients.
Serving Suggestion
Stir a small amount into juice, water or a smoothie and drink straight away, or sprinkle over porridge, cereal and yoghurt. In gluten-free baking, add it to the dry ingredients to help bind the dough. Always take psyllium with plenty of fluid. Confirm serving and directions from product label.
Ingredients
- Organic psyllium husk (100%).
Allergens
No allergens are declared. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Safety
Psyllium swells rapidly once it is wet, so it must be taken with an adequate amount of fluid. Do not take it dry. If you have difficulty swallowing, or any narrowing or obstruction of the gut, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using psyllium. Being a natural product, colour and flavour vary a little with the season: expect mainly cream husks with some light brown flecks.
Nutrition Information
The full nutrition information panel, including dietary fibre, is printed on the pack. Read it there for the figures that apply to the pack you receive.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Once opened, keep in an airtight container.
Disclaimer
Honest to Goodness Organic Psyllium Husk is a food, not a therapeutic good, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Ingredient, allergen and nutrition details may change between production runs, so always read the label on the pack you receive.
