Description
Honest to Goodness Organic Hulled Buckwheat is the pale, yellowish groat left once the black outer hull is removed. Despite the name it is not a wheat or a grain at all but the seed of a plant related to rhubarb, and it cooks and serves much like rice with a distinctive nutty flavour. It comes as the 1 kg bag.
Product Strengths
- Cook it into a porridge, or toast the groats as a crunchy topping for salads and granola.
- Single ingredient: organic buckwheat (100%).
- Certified organic, handled under Australian Certified Organic (ACO) guidelines; product of China.
- Hulled groats, so the black outer layer is already removed and no soaking or hulling is needed.
- Distinctive nutty flavour; cooks and serves in a similar way to rice.
- Naturally free from wheat; suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Vegans and vegetarians; Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients.
Serving Suggestion
Rinse, then simmer in water until tender and serve in place of rice, or toast the groats first for a deeper, nuttier flavour. Buckwheat also works cold through salads and can be soaked for porridge. Confirm serving and directions from product label.

suggested dose
Buckwheat is often used to make crackers, bread and noodles. It is also a great substitute for rice and porridge.
Before cooking, buckwheat must be thoroughly rinsed under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Add one-part buckwheat to two parts water or broth. Bring to the boil then reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes.
