Description
Honest to Goodness Organic Hulled Tahini is a smooth, pourable paste made from organic hulled sesame seeds that have been lightly toasted and stone-ground. Hulling gives it a paler colour and a milder, less bitter flavour than unhulled tahini, which is why it is the usual choice for hummus and creamy dressings. Made in Australia from certified organic sesame seeds grown in Ethiopia.
Product Strengths
- Loosen it with lemon juice and water for a sauce over falafel, salad and roast vegetables.
- Spread it on toast or stir it into baking in place of a nut butter.
- Single ingredient: organic hulled sesame seeds (100%).
- Made in Australia from certified organic sesame seeds sourced from Ethiopia.
- Hulled and lightly toasted before grinding for a pale colour and mild flavour.
- No added salt, sugar, preservatives or oil.
- Suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Vegans and vegetarians; Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients.
Suggested Use
Stir well before use, as natural oil separation is normal. Use as the base for hummus and baba ganoush, whisk with lemon juice and water for a pouring dressing, or spread on toast. Confirm serving and directions from product label.

- Organic Hulled Sesame Seeds (100%).

Tahini
Creamy sesame paste for dips, dressings and baking.
Tahini is simply sesame seeds ground until they pour. Choose hulled for a paler, milder paste, unhulled for a darker, stronger one, or black tahini made from black sesame.

Is Tahini right for you?
Common questions
What's the difference between hulled and unhulled tahini?
The hull is the seed coat. Hulled tahini is made from seeds with the hull removed, so the paste is paler, smoother and milder. Unhulled keeps the hull on, which makes it darker and stronger tasting. Both are just ground sesame, and neither is the right one. It comes down to your recipe and your taste.
Is tahini regulated as a supplement in Australia?
No. It's a food, covered by the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code rather than the therapeutic goods rules, and there's no entry for tahini on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1). Sesame is listed separately as SESAMUM INDICUM (item 4510), but that covers its use in listed medicines and doesn't make tahini a therapeutic product.
