Description
Breuss Kidney Tea Mix is the loose herb blend the Austrian author Rudolf Breuss set down, put together here by Hilde Hemmes' Herbals: horsetail herb, stinging nettle herb, knotgrass herb and St John's wort herb, 60 g of dried herb in the pack. It is a herbal tea rather than a medicine, and it is prepared in two stages rather than one, a short infusion of the herbs followed by a simmer of the same herbs in more water, with the two combined and drunk together. A batch can be made ahead, kept covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours and gently warmed before drinking.
Product Strengths
- Prepared in two stages and combined into a single drink, the way the Breuss method sets out.
- A batch keeps covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours, so a day's tea can be made in one go.
- Four dried herbs and nothing else: horsetail, stinging nettle, knotgrass and St John's wort.
- Loose dried herb in a 60 g pack, measured out by the teaspoon.
- Made in Australia.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Adults who want a loose herbal tea to brew by the cup.
Not suitable for: Anyone taking prescription medicine who has not first checked with their doctor or pharmacist.
St John's wort can change how a number of prescription medicines work, including the oral contraceptive pill, so raise it with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
Ingredients
- Horsetail herb (Equisetum arvense).
- Stinging nettle herb.
- Knotgrass herb (Polygonum aviculare).
- St John's wort herb.
Suggested Use
Infuse 1 heaped teaspoon of Breuss Kidney Tea Mix with a cup of boiling water, using rain or filtered water, steep for 10 minutes and strain. Add the strained tea dregs to 2 cups of water, simmer for 10 minutes and strain. Combine the two preparations and drink. If you are not drinking it straight away, keep it in a covered jug or container in the fridge for up to 24 hours and warm it gently before drinking.
Storage
Store the dried herb in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and close the pack between uses. Keep prepared tea covered in the fridge and use it within 24 hours.
