Description
Evolution Botanicals Globe Artichoke is the globe artichoke head concentrated into a 4:1 extract powder and packed into a 120 g violet glass jar. A level teaspoon weighs 1.5 g and carries the equivalent of 6,000 mg of globe artichoke, which is why the jar runs to 80 serves rather than a hundred. Globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus) is the Mediterranean thistle that has been eaten as a vegetable since Greek and Roman times, and this is that plant as a spoonable powder you stir into a smoothie, a greens drink, a protein shake or a juice.
Product Strengths
- Stirs straight into smoothies, greens, proteins and juices without cooking.
- A level teaspoon is a whole serve, so the 120 g jar carries 80 of them.
- Globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus) 4:1 extract powder, and nothing else in the jar.
- Equivalent to 6,000 mg of globe artichoke per 1.5 g serve.
- No carrier, filler or flow agent.
- Packed in a 300 mL Miron violet glass jar with an airtight cushion seal, made to be refilled and reused.
- Certified carbon neutral under the Australian Government's Climate Active standard.
- Packed in Australia from imported ingredients.
- It comes as the 120 g violet glass jar.

Globe Artichoke
The bitter leaf behind most liver-support herbal blends, and here's what it is.
It's rarely sold on its own. You'll usually find it mixed with milk thistle, dandelion or schisandra in a liver formula. This page tells you what it is rather than what it does, because we haven't got the evidence in hand to say more yet.

Is Globe Artichoke right for you?
Common questions
Is globe artichoke allowed in Australian supplements?
Yes. Cynara scolymus is item 1681 on Schedule 1 of the Therapeutic Goods (Permissible Ingredients) Determination (No. 2) 2026, which makes it a permitted ingredient in listed medicines. Being permitted means it can be used in a listed medicine. It doesn't mean the government has approved any product or any claim made for it.
Why doesn't this page say what globe artichoke does?
Because the evidence we've gathered for globe artichoke so far is regulatory only. It confirms the ingredient's permitted, but no matched permitted indication or clinical study sits behind it yet that we're comfortable building a claim on. We'd rather tell you that plainly than borrow a claim from somewhere else. If you want to know whether it suits you, our naturopaths can talk it through with you.
