Description
Hemp Foods Australia Organic Hemp Protein Mixed Berry and Acai is a certified organic hemp seed protein shake powder, built mostly on Hemp Gold protein and finished with organic beetroot powder and a berry juice powder of acai and strawberry, which is where the deep colour and the berry flavour come from. It is sweetened with thaumatin, a naturally sweet protein from the West African katemfe fruit. A 35 g serve carries 18 g of plant protein. Shake two scoops into water or the milk of your choice for a berry milkshake, or add a serve to a smoothie.

Hemp Protein
Plant protein, the wholefood way.
Hemp protein is milled from the seed, so its natural fibre and omega-3 stay in. It's an easy way to top up your protein when you're training hard.

Is this the right protein powder for you?
Common questions
Does hemp protein have cannabidiol or THC in it?
The cannabinoid rules you may have read about apply to a different ingredient: hemp seed oil, item 2515 on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1). Cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinols are required components of that oil, capped at 75 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg, with oral use only, a 36 g daily cap and two required label warnings. Hemp protein has no entry on that list at all and is sold as a food, so none of those conditions apply to it. We don't describe hemp protein in terms of cannabinoids, and nothing in that item should be applied to it.
Why does a scoop of hemp protein hold less protein than whey or pea?
Because it hasn't been stripped down. Whey isolate and pea isolate are filtered so that most of what's left is protein. Hemp protein is closer to the milled seed, so the fibre and fat stay in. That's the wholefood part, and it's also why the protein per scoop is lower. If you already eat plenty of protein, another shake won't add much. We also haven't found a study on how well your body digests hemp protein, so we can't give you a figure for how much of it you absorb.
