Multifloral Manuka Honey
What is multifloral manuka honey?
Multifloral manuka comes from bees that foraged on manuka alongside other flowers, and it still passes New Zealand's official manuka test. It's everyday manuka for your pantry: stir it into tea or take a spoonful when a cough won't settle.

How the forms compare
Common questions
What does 'multifloral' mean on a jar of manuka honey?
It means the honey passed New Zealand's manuka test at the lower grade. The test checks four chemicals from manuka nectar plus a DNA marker for manuka pollen. Multifloral honey passes the same DNA test as monofloral but needs less of two of those chemicals. In practice, less manuka nectar went into the jar.
Is multifloral manuka honey fake or diluted?
No. It still has to pass New Zealand's manuka pollen DNA test, the same one monofloral honey passes. Multifloral simply means the bees foraged more widely, so a smaller share of the nectar came from manuka flowers. It's a genuine, tested grade, not a watered-down product.
Does multifloral mean a lower MGO number?
Usually, but they're two different tests. Multifloral describes the mix of flowers, while MGO or UMF describes measured strength. A multifloral jar can still carry its own MGO figure, so check the label for a stated number rather than assuming one from the word "multifloral".
