Description
Magnesium Plus from Australian NaturalCare is a film coated tablet built around 300 mg of elemental magnesium, drawn from magnesium oxide and magnesium amino acid chelate, with calcium, manganese, vitamin C, vitamin D3 and vitamin B6 alongside it. Magnesium is an essential dietary mineral found in legumes, nuts and green leafy vegetables, and refining and processing reduce how much of it survives into food. This is the one or two tablet a day form of it, taken with food, for anyone topping up their daily intake and wanting the cofactors in the same tablet rather than in separate bottles.
Product Strengths
- A one or two tablet daily magnesium, taken with food.
- Magnesium and its cofactors arrive in one tablet rather than as four or five separate products.
- Total elemental magnesium 300 mg per tablet, from magnesium oxide and magnesium amino acid chelate.
- Calcium from calcium citrate and calcium orotate, plus manganese amino acid chelate.
- Calcium ascorbate dihydrate 250 mg, providing 206.54 mg of vitamin C.
- Colecalciferol 2.5 micrograms, equivalent to 100 IU of vitamin D3.
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) 25 mg.
- Gluten free and dairy free.
- A bottle of 100 film coated tablets.

Magnesium
The mineral your muscles and nerves run on.
Magnesium helps your muscles relax, supports normal nerve function, and plays a part in keeping your blood sugar and blood pressure steady. Running low tends to show up as tiredness, headaches or weakness.

Is Magnesium right for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Which form of magnesium is best absorbed?
The forms that dissolve well absorb best. Magnesium citrate, chloride, lactate and aspartate are absorbed more completely than magnesium oxide or sulfate, and one review puts oxide absorption as low as 4%. Glycinate and chloride also absorb well and are usually gentler on your bowels. Oxide is poorly absorbed.
How much magnesium is too much?
The NHMRC upper limit for magnesium from supplements is 350 mg a day if you're nine or older, 110 mg for ages four to eight, and 65 mg for ages one to three. That limit covers supplements and medicines only, not magnesium from food.
Does magnesium interact with medicines?
Yes. Magnesium can bind to bisphosphonates and some antibiotics, so you need to space them apart: at least two hours for bisphosphonates, and two hours before or four to six hours after tetracyclines and quinolones. Loop and thiazide diuretics make you lose more magnesium in your urine. Check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
What does the evidence actually say about magnesium and sleep?
It's less solid than the marketing suggests. Systematic reviews have found people fell asleep a little sooner, around 17 minutes in one analysis, but reviewers rated the trials too weak for firm recommendations. The evidence for anxiety and mood is similarly low quality. The honest answer: promising, but not proven.
