Clove Bud

Absolute Essential Clove Bud is a pure single essential oil distilled from the flower bud of the clove tree, Syzygium aromaticum, printed on the pack under its older name, Eugenia caryophyllata. Its aroma is warm, sweet and richly spicy, with real carrying power, so a very little goes a long way in a diffuser or a blend. Key components include eugenol, eugenyl acetate, beta-caryophyllene and alpha-humulene, and it comes in a 10 mL bottle.

Suggested Use

Storage

Store the bottle upright with the cap closed, in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. Light and warmth shorten the life of a plant oil.

Warnings

Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. Not for internal use. Avoid contact with the eyes and flush with water if contact occurs. Stop using it if skin irritation or sensitivity develops.

Absolute Essential's own cautions for this oil are: "Not suitable for use during pregnancy. Not recommended for children. Use with care as this oil may cause skin irritations."

Eugenol is a recognised skin sensitiser and an irritant to mucous membranes, and it is the dominant constituent of clove bud oil. Dilute it heavily and keep it away from the mouth, the nose and the eyes.

100% pure Eugenia caryophyllata (Clove Bud) essential oil, steam-distilled from the bud, Madagascar. Key components: Eugenol, Eugenyl acetate, beta-Caryophyllene, alpha-Humulene.

Toothache: Add 1 drop to 1ml of Sweet Almond oil and rub on the gum; or add 1–2 drops to a bowl of hot water, soak a small towel, wring out and place on the cheek, replacing as required. Mouthwash (adults only): Add 1 drop to 3 tablespoons of salty water, stir and use 3–4 times a day; may be combined with 1 drop of Manuka oil for additional gum health support. Air antiseptic / Immune support / Mental alertness: Add 5 drops to a diffuser, repeat up to 5 times a day. Blend with Spruce, Orange Sweet, or Lavender Sweet if the aroma is too intense. For a mental alertness blend, combine with Lemon, Rosemary, and Basil. Mould removal: Diffuse or rub onto the affected area with a cleaning cloth.
