Is Women's Multivitamin right for you?
Common questions
Does a women's multivitamin need its own approval from the TGA?
No. "Women's multivitamin" isn't an entry in Australia's permitted ingredients list, which lists single ingredients rather than finished blends. Every vitamin and mineral in the formula is regulated on its own, with its own permitted status, dose cap and label warnings. A product can be listed once each of its ingredients meets those rules. What's inside changes a lot from brand to brand, so read the label against whatever else you already take.
Why does the label on some women's multis mention iron deficiency?
It's a required statement. When a general multivitamin contains iron but isn't sold for iron deficiency, Australian rules say the label has to state that it's "not for the treatment of iron deficiency conditions" or similar words. Formulas without iron don't need it, which is why you'll only see it on some.
