Description
Wanderlust Shatavari Drops is a liquid herbal extract of Asparagus racemosus root in a glycerol base, taken from a measured dropper straight onto the tongue or diluted in water or juice. Glycerol is the only other ingredient, so the character of the root comes through and the taste is slightly bitter. Shatavari is traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine as a rejuvenative tonic, as an aphrodisiac to enhance healthy libido and to calm the nerves.

Shatavari
What is shatavari?
Shatavari is the dried root of a climbing plant from India and parts of Asia, treasured in Ayurvedic practice. On Australian labels, look for its botanical name, Asparagus racemosus.

Is Shatavari right for you?
Common questions
Why can't I find shatavari on the TGA ingredient list?
Because the list uses botanical names. Shatavari is in Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1) as Asparagus racemosus, item 722. It's permitted in listed medicines, but only as the dried, peeled root, or as a water or water-and-alcohol extract of that root with up to 45% ethanol. There's no daily cap on it.
Why doesn't this page say what shatavari does?
Because we haven't yet gathered any clinical or traditional-use evidence for shatavari, and we won't write a claim we can't back up with a source. No permitted health claim has been confirmed for it yet either, so this page sticks to what it is. If you're weighing it up for something specific, our naturopaths can talk it through with you.
