Description
Pukka Vanilla Chai Tea is a warming herbal chai built on cinnamon bark, with ginger, cardamom, fennel, licorice and vanilla, in a box of 20 individually wrapped tea bags. Cinnamon makes up 40% of the blend, so the cup leads with sweet warm spice; ginger and cardamom sharpen it, fennel and licorice round it off, and vanilla sits underneath. Unlike a traditional chai, it contains no black tea. Brew it in the afternoon or evening, on its own or with a splash of milk.
Product Strengths
- A cosy chai style cup for the afternoon or evening.
- Stands in for a black tea chai or a coffee, and takes a splash of milk well.
- Cinnamon bark makes up 40% of the blend, so the spice leads rather than trails.
- Six herbs and spices: cinnamon bark, ginger root, licorice root, cardamom pod, fennel seed and vanilla.
- Contains fair trade ingredients certified to the Fair for Life Standard.
- 20 tea bags in the box, each in its own sealed envelope.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Everyday hot drinking.
Not suitable for: Anyone avoiding licorice.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescribed medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist before drinking herbal teas regularly.
Ingredients
- Organic cinnamon bark (40%).
- Organic ginger root.
- Organic licorice root.
- Organic cardamom pod.
- Organic fennel seed.
- Organic vanilla.
Ethically sourced, from 100% organically grown ingredients. Published panels describe the vanilla in two ways, as vanilla pod and as vanilla flavour, so read the vanilla entry and its proportion from the pack.
Suggested Use
Pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag and infuse for 5 to 15 minutes, longer for a stronger cup. Squeeze the bag as you lift it out. Add a splash of warm milk or a plant milk if you want it closer to a latte.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from strong smells, which dried herbs pick up quickly. Keep the box closed and leave each tea bag in its sealed envelope until you brew it.

Vanilla Beans
What are vanilla beans?
Vanilla beans are the cured pods of the vanilla orchid, sold whole for real flavour in your baking and cooking. You'll also find vanilla as a flavour in shakes and meal replacements.

Common questions
Is vanilla regulated as a medicine in Australia?
Not when it's sold as a food. Vanilla beans used as a spice sit outside the medicine rules. Vanilla, Vanilla planifolia and vanillin are permitted ingredients in medicines, where plain vanilla can only be used as a flavour or fragrance. None of them has a permitted health claim.
