Description
SuperFeast Turkey Tail is a single ingredient extract powder made from Trametes versicolor, the banded, fan shaped bracket fungus that grows on fallen broadleaf and coniferous wood. Only the fruiting body is used, water extracted and concentrated at 10:1, so 10 kg of dried mushroom yields 1 kg of powder. It is mild and faintly woody and stirs in without fuss: add about half a teaspoon to hot water, plant milk, coffee, a smoothie, a broth or a meal.
Product Strengths
- Stir about half a teaspoon into hot water, plant milk, coffee, a smoothie or a broth.
- Mild and faintly woody, so it sits under coffee and cacao rather than over them.
- Fruiting body only, water extracted and concentrated at 10:1.
- One ingredient only.
- The 250 g bag is the mid size, about 179 serves at 1.4 g, and it refills a 100 g jar two and a half times.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: adults adding a single ingredient mushroom extract powder to hot or cold drinks, broths or meals. Made from a fungal ingredient only.
Not suitable for: children, and anyone allergic to culinary mushrooms. There is no safety information for turkey tail in pregnancy or breastfeeding, so speak to your health professional first if either applies to you.
Ingredients
- Trametes versicolor (turkey tail mushroom) fruiting body, 10:1 water extract powder.
Nothing else is added. The 10:1 ratio means 10 kg of dried mushroom is used to make 1 kg of powder.
Suggested Use
Adults: start with a quarter to half a teaspoon a day, about 1.4 g. Stir it into hot water or plant milk for an instant tonic tea, or add it to coffee, a smoothie, a broth or a meal. It works in hot and cold drinks. The 250 g bag holds about 179 serves.

Turkey Tail
What is turkey tail used for?
Turkey tail is a woody bracket mushroom people choose for immune support, taken as a hot-water extract, powder or capsule. Its beta-glucan fibre is the part that's been studied, so look for the Latin name and a beta-glucan percentage on the label.

How the forms compare
Common questions
Is turkey tail allowed in Australian supplements?
Yes. Trametes versicolor is on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1, item 4968) with no conditions, so it can be used in a listed medicine with an AUST L number. Its proteoglycan concentrate is item 4969 and can only be used in medicines taken by mouth. Neither listing is a government endorsement of a product.
Most of the turkey tail research is in cancer care. What does that mean for me?
It means the evidence doesn't carry over to you. In trials, PSK was given alongside standard radiation and chemotherapy under specialist care, which isn't something to copy on your own. We couldn't find any turkey tail trial in healthy adults. If you're having treatment, talk to your oncology team.
Fruiting body or mycelium for turkey tail?
This is the one species where the usual answer flips. PSP, the turkey tail preparation with decades of clinical use behind it, comes from the mycelium or the fermentation liquid rather than the mushroom itself. So mycelium isn't automatically the lesser option here. What still matters is a stated beta-glucan percentage, not a vague polysaccharide figure.
