Description

WPI 90 is True Protein's whey protein isolate, blended from New Zealand grass-fed whey with natural flavourings and nothing else added for bulk. It comes as the single-serve 30 g sachets, not the bags, in two flavours: French Vanilla and Rich Chocolate. Isolating the whey strips out most of the carbohydrate, fat and lactose that a concentrate carries, which is what makes it mix thin and sit lightly. A single-serve sachet needs no scoop and no scales, which is what makes it the one for a work bag or a suitcase, on the days training happens a long way from the kitchen.
Product Strengths
- Adds to the daily protein intake of active adults and athletes.
- One 30 g single-serve sachet per unit, in French Vanilla or Rich Chocolate.
- New Zealand grass-fed whey protein isolate, filtered by cross-flow microfiltration and ultrafiltration.
- The Rich Chocolate sachet provides 24 g of protein and 2.7 g of leucine per 30 g serve.
- Low in carbohydrate, fat and lactose.
- Complete amino acid profile, naturally rich in branched-chain amino acids.
- No scoop or scales needed, so it travels well.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For

Ingredients
- Whey protein isolate (milk).
- Cocoa powder, in the Rich Chocolate flavour.
- Vanilla bean powder, in the French Vanilla flavour.
- Organic inulin.
- Natural flavours.
- Emulsifier (sunflower lecithin).
- Vegetable gum.
- Natural sweetener (organic steviol glycosides).
Suggested Use
Empty one 30 g sachet into a shaker with cold water or milk, shake until dissolved and drink, typically after training or at any point in the day when you want to raise your protein intake. It can also be stirred through oats or blended into a smoothie.
Allergens
Contains milk. Whey protein isolate is a dairy protein, so this is not suitable for vegans and not suitable for anyone avoiding dairy, although the lactose content is low at 0.3 g per 30 g serve in the Rich Chocolate sachet. WPI 90 is produced in a facility that handles nuts, so it is not suitable for people with a nut allergy who avoid shared-line products. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and keep the sachet sealed until use. Keep out of reach of children.

What is whey protein isolate?
Whey protein isolate is whey filtered down to almost pure protein, so most of the lactose and fat is gone. It's a great pick if bigger serves of dairy don't sit well, or you're watching carbs and fat closely.

How the forms compare
Common questions
How much lactose is actually in whey protein isolate?
Very little. The industry standard puts lactose in an isolate at roughly 0.5 to 1.0 per cent, so a 30 gram serve has about 0.15 to 0.3 grams. The same serve of an 80 per cent concentrate has around 1.2 to 2.4 grams. It's low in lactose, not lactose-free, and never suitable if you have a milk allergy.
What is the difference between cross-flow microfiltration and ion-exchange whey isolate?
What each one sorts by. Cross-flow microfiltration separates by size, pushing lactose and minerals through a membrane the proteins can't get through. Ion exchange separates by electrical charge, using a resin. Both are recognised ways to reach 90 per cent protein, but whey proteins differ in charge, so the mix of proteins you end up with is a little different.
Is whey protein isolate better than concentrate for building muscle?
There's no trial comparing the two directly that shows it is. Isolate gives you slightly more protein per gram of powder and much less lactose and fat, but that's about what's in it, not the results. The studies that would settle it mostly haven't been done. Choose isolate for how well it sits with you or for what you're counting, not for bigger results.
Why is whey protein isolate not listed in the TGA permissible ingredients determination?
Because Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1) names ingredients, not grades. Whey in an Australian listed medicine comes under item 5203 WHEY PROTEIN however it was filtered, so isolate doesn't need its own entry. Not being listed separately doesn't mean it isn't allowed. Most sports powders are sold as foods anyway, not as listed medicines.
