Description
This is the naturally flavoured version of Gold Standard 100% Whey. The protein blend is the same idea as the standard line, whey protein isolate first with whey protein concentrate and a hydrolysed whey fraction behind it, but the flavour system is different: cane sugar and stevia leaf extract instead of sucralose and acesulfame potassium, natural flavours instead of artificial ones, and beet powder rather than a synthetic colour in the Strawberry. It comes as the large bag, also listed as 2.17 kg, in three flavours: Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla. These are United States packs, so the panel is a Nutrition Facts panel with energy in calories rather than an Australian Nutrition Information Panel. The naturally flavoured line exists for people who want the same shake after training or between meals but would rather not have artificial sweeteners, flavours and colours coming with it.
Product Strengths
- 24 g of protein in every 32 g rounded scoop.
- Whey protein isolate is the first listed protein source.
- No artificial flavours, sweeteners or colours: sweetened with cane sugar and stevia leaf extract.
- Strawberry takes its colour from beet powder.
- Lactase is included in the blend in two of the three flavours.
- Around 5.5 g of naturally occurring branched chain amino acids per serve across the Gold Standard 100% Whey range.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Active adults and athletes.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients; Vegans, because it contains a dairy ingredient; Children under 15 years of age, and pregnant women, except under medical or dietetic supervision; Anyone avoiding soy.
Nutrition Information
| Per 32 g serve (1 rounded scoop) | Amount |
|---|---|
| Energy | 130 calories |
| Protein | 24 g |
| Total carbohydrate | 5 g |
| Total sugars | 2 g in Chocolate, 3 g in Strawberry |
Because this pack covers three flavours, only the figures common to them are shown. Sugar content differs a little between flavours because each is sweetened with cane sugar alongside stevia. Energy is declared in calories on the pack, and any percentage daily value printed on the bag is a United States reference figure, not an Australian recommended dietary intake.
Ingredients
- Protein blend: whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate and a third whey fraction, listed as whey peptides or as hydrolysed whey protein depending on the flavour.
- Cane sugar.
- Natural flavour.
- Lecithin, declared as sunflower and/or soy.
- Xanthan gum.
- Stevia leaf extract (rebaudioside A).
- Lactase.

Allergens
Contains milk and soy. The protein is dairy derived, so this powder is not suitable for vegans or for anyone avoiding milk protein. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Suggested Use
Mix about one rounded scoop of powder into 180 mL to 240 mL of cold water, milk or another beverage. Stir, shake or blend until dissolved. It is commonly taken within 30 to 60 minutes of training or as an everyday addition to protein intake.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place with the bag or lid closed. Contents are sold by weight, not volume, so some settling is normal.
Warnings
This is a food supplement and is not intended for weight reduction. It contains no added caffeine. Not suitable for children under 15 years of age or pregnant women except under medical or dietetic supervision, and not suitable for people with a milk or soy allergy.

Whey Protein
What does whey protein do?
Whey is a fast-absorbing milk protein that gives your muscles what they need to rebuild after a workout. It's an easy way to top up your protein for the day.

Is this the right protein powder for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Can I have whey protein if I am lactose intolerant?
Often, yes, with the right grade. Concentrate has the most lactose, while isolate and hydrolysate have had almost all of it filtered out, although neither is certified lactose-free. Most people with lactose intolerance can manage around 12 grams of lactose a day. A cow's milk protein allergy is a different matter, and no whey grade is suitable.
What is the difference between whey concentrate, isolate and hydrolysate?
How much it's been filtered. Concentrate is up to 80 per cent protein and keeps some lactose, fat and minerals. Isolate is filtered to about 90 per cent protein, so very little lactose is left. Hydrolysate is whey that enzymes have already cut into shorter pieces (peptides). It absorbs fastest and tastes bitter.
Is whey protein isolate worth choosing over concentrate?
It is for specific reasons. Isolate gives you less lactose, less fat and a few more grams of protein per scoop. If dairy sits well with you and you're not counting carbs, concentrate does the same job.
Is grass-fed or native whey better?
Those labels are about something different from the grades. Grass-fed describes how the cows were fed and can apply to any grade, and pasture feeding mainly changes the milk fat, which an isolate has already had removed. Native whey is filtered straight from milk rather than from the whey left over from cheese making. Neither has strong evidence in people showing it does more yet.
