Description
Nutritionist Choice Shiitake Mushrooms is a packet of whole dried shiitake, one ingredient and nothing else. Drying turns shiitake into something quite different from the fresh mushroom: dense, savoury and almost meaty, and the soaking water becomes a stock in its own right, so keep it. A few caps are enough for a pot, so a packet goes a long way in broths, braises, stir fries, dumpling fillings and rice dishes. They may contain wheat as a natural fertiliser, so they are not suitable for anyone avoiding wheat or gluten.
Product Strengths
- One ingredient: dried shiitake mushrooms.
- Dense, savoury and almost meaty once soaked.
- The soaking liquid becomes a savoury stock you can cook with.
- Dried caps keep in the cupboard for months, unlike fresh mushrooms.
- A few caps are enough for a pot.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Broths, braises, stir fries, dumpling fillings and rice dishes.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients; anyone avoiding wheat or gluten, including anyone with coeliac disease, because the mushrooms may contain wheat as a natural fertiliser; anyone avoiding mushrooms; and anyone who needs a verified gluten free product.
