Vegan Collagen Builder
What is a vegan collagen builder?
A vegan collagen builder gives you the plant-based amino acids collagen is made from, together with vitamin C. Your body makes its own collagen, and it needs vitamin C to do it.

Is this the right collagen for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Is vegan collagen actually collagen?
No. Collagen is an animal protein, so nothing grown in a field contains it. A vegan collagen builder gives you the amino acids collagen is made from, plus vitamin C, which your body needs to build it. Read the ingredient list: if it names amino acids rather than collagen or collagen peptides, that's what you're buying.
Does a vegan collagen builder work as well as collagen powder?
The evidence isn't the same. One plant-based collagen alternative was tested in 90 adults over eight weeks against placebo and a fish collagen comparison, with modest measured differences. Animal collagen peptides have far more trials behind them. Neither result tells you what will happen for you, and both are judged over months rather than weeks.
Why does my vegan collagen have no AUST L number?
Because it may be regulated as a food rather than a listed medicine. Several ingredients common in these formulas (glutamic acid, arginine and hyaluronic acid) are only permitted in Australian listed medicines for use on the skin, so a product you swallow that contains them comes under food law instead. That's not unlawful, just a different set of rules.
