Description
Honest to Goodness Blanched Almonds are whole Australian-grown almond kernels with the skins removed, left unroasted and unsalted. Blanching is done with heat and water rather than chemicals, which leaves a pale, clean-tasting kernel that grinds smoothly. They are the almond of choice for nut milks, nut butters, marzipan, frangipane and pale baked goods where almond skins would speckle the crumb. It comes as the 500 g pack. Grind them for marzipan, frangipane and macarons, or soak and blend them for a nut milk that stays pale rather than flecked with skin.
Product Strengths
- Ground fine, they stand in for flour in cakes, biscuits and pastry.
- Whole kernels rather than meal, so you control how finely they are ground.
- Grown in Australia and blanched without chemicals.
- Unroasted and unsalted, with no added colours, flavours or preservatives.
- Plant based, so they suit vegan and vegetarian cooking.

Is Almonds right for you?
Common questions
What's the difference between almond meal and almond flour?
Meal is usually ground with the skins left on, so it's coarser and flecked brown. Flour is normally made from blanched almonds with the skins removed, so it's finer and paler. Recipes often use the names interchangeably, and either works in most baking. Check the pack if the colour or texture of what you're making matters to you.
Are almonds regulated as a medicine in Australia?
Almond is on the permitted ingredients list for listed medicines (item 476), where it's used as an inactive ingredient (excipient). But almonds sold as food, whether whole or as meal, butter, oil or milk, come under food standards law instead, not medicine rules. We couldn't find a permitted health claim specific to almonds.
