Description
Mindful Foods Hemp Seeds are hulled hemp seeds, the soft inner kernel left once the hard outer shell is taken off, which is why they are also sold as hemp hearts. They are pale green, mild and nutty, and soft enough to eat straight from the jar with no soaking, grinding or cooking. The seed is Australian grown and spray free, and it is labelled gluten free. Scatter them over salads, grain bowls, porridge and yoghurt, blend them into smoothies, work them through muffin and bread doughs, or blitz them with water and strain for hemp milk.
Product Strengths
- Scatter straight over salads, grain bowls, porridge and yoghurt with no preparation.
- Blends into smoothies, and blitzes with water and strains to make hemp milk.
- Works through muffin, bread and slice batters.
- Mild and nutty rather than bitter, because the hard outer shell has been removed.
- One ingredient only, which is the hulled hemp seed itself.
- Australian grown and spray free.

Is Hemp Seeds right for you?
Common questions
Will hemp seeds or hemp seed oil affect a drug test, or make me feel anything?
We can't tell you how a particular test will read, and we won't guess. What Australian rules do set is a ceiling: hemp seed oil in a listed medicine must contain no more than 10 mg/kg of total tetrahydrocannabinols and no more than 75 mg/kg of total cannabidiol. If a drug test matters for your work, ask your employer or doctor before taking any hemp product.
Why does hemp seed oil have label warnings when hemp seeds don't?
Because different rules apply. Whole and hulled seeds are sold as a food, outside the medicines rules. Hemp seed oil is item 2515 on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1), so when it's used in a listed medicine it comes with that item's conditions: limits on cannabinoids, oral use only, a 36 g daily cap and two required label warnings.
Is there an approved health claim for hemp in Australia?
No. Neither hemp seeds nor hemp seed oil has an entry on the TGA's list of permitted indications, across all 17 of its parts, so there's no permitted health wording we can use. Hemp seed oil being a permitted ingredient means it can lawfully go into a listed medicine. It doesn't set out what that medicine may claim.
