Description
Live More You Activated Walnuts are certified organic walnut halves and pieces soaked in water with a little Himalayan salt and then dried slowly at low temperature, the process known as activation. It is a preparation method rather than a treatment: soaking and slow drying take the place of roasting and leave a crisp kernel with the rich, buttery, faintly tannic flavour walnuts are known for. It is the 280 g resealable pouch. Toss them through a salad, scatter them over a breakfast bowl, or fold them into a brownie, a banana bread or a coffee cake.
Product Strengths
- Blitz them into a pesto, or scatter them over roast vegetables and blue cheese.
- Certified organic walnut kernels with nothing added but a little Himalayan salt used during soaking.
- Soaked and slowly dehydrated rather than dry roasted or oil roasted.
- Crisp halves and pieces with a deep, buttery walnut flavour.
- Resealable 280 g kraft pouch, a generous everyday size.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Everyday snacking and meals.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients; Anyone with a nut allergy.
Ingredients
- Certified organic activated walnuts.
- Himalayan salt (used during activation).
Allergens
Contains walnuts, a declarable tree nut under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. The pack also carries a cross-contamination advisory: may contain traces of other tree nuts, peanuts and sesame. If you are allergic to any tree nut, to peanuts or to sesame, it is not suitable for you. Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Nutrition Information
Serving size 50 g. Figures exactly as the store's legacy panel declared them.
| Average quantity | Per 50 g serve | Per 100 g |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | 1453.5 kJ | 2907 kJ |
| Protein | 7.2 g | 14.4 g |
| Fat, total | 34.6 g | 69.2 g |
| Fat, saturated | 2.2 g | 4.4 g |
| Carbohydrate, total | 1.5 g | 3.0 g |
| Carbohydrate, sugars | 1.4 g | 2.7 g |
| Sodium | 1.5 mg | 3.0 mg |
One correction has been made to the legacy figures. Saturated fat is 4.4 g per 100 g and 2.2 g per 50 g serve. Every other figure is exactly as the legacy copy had it. Note on sodium: comparable certified organic activated nuts salted the same way declare roughly 95 mg to 110 mg of sodium per 100 g, so this sodium figure looks like the unsalted kernel rather than the finished salted product. Confirm sodium against the panel on the pack.
Suggested Use
Eat them as they are, toss them through salads, scatter over breakfast bowls and porridge, or chop them into baking and pasta dishes. Reseal the pouch between servings to keep the kernels crisp.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Reseal the pouch tightly after opening.
Disclaimer
This is a food, not a medicine, and is intended to be eaten as part of a varied and balanced diet. Activation describes a preparation method only. The nutrition information panel is printed on the pack; please read the panel on the pack you receive.

Activated Nuts
What are activated nuts?
Activated nuts are raw almonds, cashews or walnuts soaked in salted water, then dried slowly at low heat. You get a ready-to-eat snack with a lighter, crisper crunch.

Is Activated Nuts right for you?
Common questions
What does 'activated' actually mean?
It means the nuts, usually almonds, cashews or walnuts, have been soaked in salted water and then dried slowly at a low temperature instead of roasted. Soaking is meant to reduce natural phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors, which some people believe makes nuts easier to digest. That's a belief, not a claim we're making.
Is 'activated' just a fancy word for raw?
No, they're different. Raw nuts haven't been soaked or dried at all. Activated nuts go through the soak-and-dry process first, so they're crunchier than a plain raw nut and usually carry a little salt from the soaking water. Roasted nuts are a third option, cooked with higher heat instead of low and slow.
