What is in the Noosa Black Garlic collection?
Three black garlic products from the Noosa region of Queensland. Black Garlic Cloves are whole cloves in a 50g pack. Black Garlic Honey is a 300g jar with two ingredients, paperbark honey and black garlic. Caramelized Black Garlic Paste is a 100g pack made with black garlic, sugar, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. The product pages describe all three as sweet, savoury and umami, for cheese boards, sauces, glazes and savoury dishes. What is black garlic?
According to Noosa Black Garlic, black garlic is ordinary white garlic changed by a controlled ageing process of time and temperature. It is not a different variety and it is not roasted or smoked. The brand describes a soft, sticky texture and a flavour of balsamic, molasses and roasted garlic.
Who makes it?
On its own our story page, the brand says it is run by a husband-and-wife team in the Noosa region, and that its garlic is organically grown Elephant Garlic from local farmers. These are the brand's statements, and we have not seen an organic certificate.
What should I check on the label?
