Creatine HCl
Why choose creatine HCl?
Creatine HCl dissolves far more easily than monohydrate, so you get creatine without the grit in small scoops and capsules. Paired with training, creatine adds a little strength over time for heavy lifts and sprints.

How the forms compare
Common questions
Is creatine HCl better than creatine monohydrate?
Not on the evidence so far. The one trial that compared them head to head, 40 young adults over eight weeks of weight training, found both did better than placebo for strength and muscle size, and HCl showed no benefit over monohydrate. A 2022 review reached the same conclusion across every form on the market: none has been shown to be a better source of creatine than monohydrate.
Do you need less creatine HCl because it dissolves better?
That's the marketing, but it hasn't been shown. Dissolving faster in a glass isn't the same as more creatine reaching your muscles, and no study has measured greater muscle uptake from HCl. The strength trials mostly used 3 to 5 g of monohydrate a day. Many HCl products are labelled well under that, so check the grams of creatine per serve before you compare.
Does creatine HCl cause less bloating?
Nobody has shown that. The trials we reviewed didn't compare bloating between forms. What we do know is that any form of creatine draws a little water into your muscles early on. In one trial, people gained about half a kilo of lean mass in the first week, before training could have had any effect. That water sits inside the muscle, not under your skin.
