Liposomal Vitamin C
What is liposomal vitamin C?
Liposomal vitamin C is vitamin C wrapped in tiny fat bubbles for easier absorption. In a blinded trial, a little more of it reached the blood than from a plain tablet, and your immune system needs vitamin C to do its job.

Is this the right vitamin c for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Is liposomal vitamin C better absorbed?
A little, yes. In a blinded, placebo-controlled trial of 27 adults, 500 mg of liposomal vitamin C gave 27% higher peak blood levels and 21% more total exposure over 24 hours than 500 mg of standard vitamin C. Inside white blood cells, the 24-hour gain was only 8%. Another trial's '1.77 times' figure came from an open-label study, where everyone knew what they were taking, so it's weaker evidence.
Is liposomal vitamin C worth choosing over plain vitamin C?
It depends what you're after. The absorption gain is real but modest. What's missing is any proof it changes a health outcome. A 2025 systematic review of other vitamin C forms found no study that measured how much stays in your tissues. If plain vitamin C suits you, you're not missing out on a proven benefit.
Is liposomal vitamin C gentler on the stomach?
We can't say it is. None of the liposomal trials we've found measured stomach comfort. Big doses of any vitamin C can cause diarrhoea, nausea and cramps. If plain vitamin C upsets you, a buffered form such as Ester-C calcium ascorbate is the one with a published tolerability trial behind it.
