It is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods to help reduce the symptoms of mild osteoarthritis, including mild joint soreness and mild joint stiffness, and to support joint mobility and flexibility. It is the 120 tablet bottle. It is an everyday tablet for adults who want to look after their joints, and it suits people who exercise.

Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Adults who want a combined glucosamine and chondroitin tablet to reduce the symptoms of mild osteoarthritis and support joint mobility.
Not suitable for: Vegans and vegetarians. The chondroitin in this tablet is bovine sodium chondroitin sulfate, an animal derived ingredient. Not suitable for anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients. The tablet contains sulfites and soya bean products, so it does not suit anyone avoiding soy or sensitive to sulfites. It carries approximately 191 mg of sodium per daily dose, which is relevant on a sodium restricted diet. Not for children under 18 years except as prescribed by a health professional. If you have a shellfish or seafood allergy, check the pack you receive: Blackmores now states this product uses GlucosaGreen glucosamine, while some retailer and legacy listings still carry the older precaution that the glucosamine is derived from seafood.
Ingredients
| Each tablet contains | Amount |
|---|---|
| Bovine sodium chondroitin sulfate | 225 mg |
| Glucosamine sulfate sodium chloride (equiv. glucosamine sulfate 750 mg) | 942 mg |
| Manganese gluconate (equiv. manganese 1 mg) | 8.8 mg |
| Borax (equiv. boron 1 mg) | 8.8 mg |
The recorded formulation gives the manganese gluconate as 8.77 mg and the borax as 8.83 mg; the label and retailer listings round both to 8.8 mg. Excipients: carmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, croscarmellose sodium, flavour, glucose monohydrate, hypromellose, lecithin, macrogol 3350, magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, titanium dioxide and xylitol. It has no added dairy, gluten or yeast.
Allergens
Contains sulfites and soya bean products. Contains approximately 191 mg of sodium per daily dose. The chondroitin is bovine, so this is not a vegetarian or vegan product. The glucosamine is GlucosaGreen, a non-GMO glucosamine sulfate that is not extracted from shellfish, but older label copy for this product carried a seafood-derived glucosamine precaution, so anyone with a shellfish or seafood allergy should read the pack in hand before use. Always review label for full list of ingredients.

Precautions
Glucosamine
What does glucosamine do?
Glucosamine is an amino sugar your body uses to build cartilage. In a large review of 47 trials, the sulfate form was linked to easier knee pain over a year or more.

How the forms compare
Common questions
Does glucosamine actually work for joints?
The evidence is mixed, and we'd rather tell you straight. A network analysis of 47 trials in 22,037 patients found glucosamine sulfate was one of only two options linked to less knee pain over a year or more. But an analysis of individual patient data, independent of industry and covering 55% of everyone ever enrolled in these trials, found it no better than placebo. Both are genuine findings.
Does the type of glucosamine matter?
Yes, more than most people expect. The encouraging long-term evidence is specifically for glucosamine sulfate, and you can't swap it for the hydrochloride form. Australia also treats the forms differently: the potassium chloride version carries a kidney and heart warning and a 550 mg potassium limit. Check which form is on your label.
Can I take it if I'm allergic to shellfish?
Not the kind made from shellfish, which is most of it. Glucosamine is traditionally made from chitin in crustacean shells, and Australian side effect reports for glucosamine and chondroitin were mostly allergic reactions. Corn-fermented glucosamine is available and avoids shellfish entirely. If you also have asthma, talk to us first either way.
